Terms of service

The rules of engagement.

These terms govern your use of the Suffercraft platform at suffercraft.com and app.suffercraft.com. By signing up or signing in, you agree to them. They are short on purpose. If a clause is unclear, email hello@suffercraft.com and we will rewrite it.

What we provide

Suffercraft is a software platform for ultramarathon training. The platform delivers training plans, methodology content, after-action and check-in tools, race plans, threat models, and optional coach review. The methodology behind the platform is described in the methodology page on this site.

Three tiers, monthly subscription, billed by Stripe:

  • Self · $49/mo. Personalized training plan, methodology content, no coach review.
  • Coached · $249/mo. A Suffercraft coach reads your week, async. Today that coach is Ricky.
  • Direct · $749/mo. One to one with Ricky Roane. A call every two weeks. Few slots.

Payment

Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe in United States dollars. By starting a subscription you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method on file at the start of each billing cycle.

Tier changes take effect at the start of the next billing cycle. We do not pro-rate mid-cycle when you move between tiers. If you move from a lower tier to a higher one mid-cycle, the platform grants the higher tier immediately and you are billed the new amount at the next cycle start. If you move from a higher tier to a lower one, your access continues at the higher tier through the end of the current paid period.

Cancellation

You can cancel at any time from your billing page. Cancellation marks the subscription to end at the close of the current paid period. Access continues until that date. You are never charged again after you cancel unless you reactivate.

Refunds

We do not issue refunds after a billing cycle starts, except in two cases. First, if a system failure on our side prevents you from accessing the platform for more than 48 consecutive hours during the cycle, we refund the cycle in full. Second, within the first 7 days of a brand-new subscription, you may request a pro-rated refund by email and we will honor it.

Refunds for any other reason are at our discretion. We grant them more often than the policy suggests; the policy exists to set the floor, not the ceiling.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Share your account credentials, or sign in with credentials belonging to another person.
  • Scrape, automate, or reverse-engineer the platform beyond the endpoints we publish for athlete use.
  • Attempt to access another user's account, data, calendar feed, or coach thread.
  • Use the platform to coach paying athletes outside the coaching role we have granted you in our system. Coaching access is provisioned explicitly per organization.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate the above. Where the violation is unambiguous and ongoing, we may terminate without notice. Where there is doubt, we contact you first.

Intellectual property

You retain ownership of your personal data: your profile, your workout logs, your AARs, your check-ins, your race plans, the threat models you write. The export endpoint in your account settings returns this data on request in machine-readable form.

Suffercraft retains ownership of everything else, including but not limited to the training methodology, the plan templates, the coach voice profiles, the prompt engineering, the validators, the calendar generators, the aggregate anonymous insights derived from platform use, and all software that runs the platform.

You grant Suffercraft a limited license to process your personal data as needed to provide the service: generate plans, surface check-in summaries, send the weekly digest, render your calendar, and so on. This license ends when you delete your account.

No medical advice

Suffercraft is not a medical service. Training plans, body scan protocols, race plans, threat models, and methodology content are for the purposes of athletic training only. They are not medical advice, not a diagnosis, not a substitute for the judgment of a qualified physician.

You are responsible for clearing yourself for endurance training with a physician before you start, and for stopping when your body says stop. The platform's body scan tooling exists to help you make that judgment. It does not make the judgment for you.

Ultrarunning carries risk of serious injury and death. The liability waiver you sign during onboarding is incorporated into these terms by reference and governs how that risk is allocated between you and us.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Suffercraft's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to the platform or these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event that gave rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including but not limited to lost races, lost training time, lost income, or personal injury, unless prohibited by law.

The platform is provided as is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular athletic outcome.

Privacy

How we handle your data is set out in detail in the privacy policy. The short version: encrypted at rest, never sold, deletable on request from your account settings.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. Material changes are posted at this URL with the date at the top updated, and account holders are emailed at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept, you may cancel.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by email within 30 days will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Ada County, Idaho, and you and Suffercraft consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
